Features

  • DESIGN

Andy Mapple with over 30 years of being involved in many ski designs, has seen the process go through many changes from taking a mold off a prototype, to digitization, and now CAD. Through all the years of experience being involved in all these different processes, Andy has the feel and experience to see what works and not.
All Mapple molds are computer cut from CAD, along with a very high tolerance for the PVC core for a perfect fit. Before any ski mold is cut, many variations of working prototypes and then 3D models are used to study all aspects.

  • TEST METHODOLOGY

Every ski starts with a prototype of the design idea. The only way to know if it works is to go test it!
At Mapple Skis in Orlando, Florida, a private man made lake is just a stone’s throw away. Every version of the ski goes through on water testing with multiple skiers.
At the Mapple R&D facility each ski can then get a new flex pattern, rocker and or shape as needed.
Different level skiers are always used for testing. Once a ski is deemed acceptable as a prototype at our facility it is then sent out for further evaluation and feedback from other skiers at other sites. This gives us the most well rounded feedback before CAD work.

  • FIN TECHNOLOGY

One of "the" lightest fin setups on the market today.
Fully adjustable up and down for depth and length measurements, as well as forward and back adjustment. All this allows for micro adjustments to be made as the skier desires.
A 60/61 T6 aluminum fin with 4 holes and 0.080” thick is used. Four hole fins are preferred, as they allow for a little less turbulence, and provide more lift, which then allows for a faster and more efficient wake crossing and extra leverage, without the ski needing so much stiffness.
A mid-sized foil provides a nice balance for its effect, with the least amount of resistance.

  • ENGINEERING

Mapple Skis is a design and development company. Our years of expertise are in the development process, and working with all our customers to help their skiing and passion to be better. Every skier on a Mapple Ski is part of our family, and that is our focus.
Manufacturing of “our” designs with “our” molds is done by the best in the industry.
