Welcome back to Waterskiers World. If you're a water sports enthusiast, you know the thrill of gliding over the water on combo or double waterskis. They're a classic, and today, we're diving into the essentials you need to know before picking the perfect pair for your on water adventures.

First up, let's talk about the size of combo waterskis. It's crucial to match the length of your skis with your weight for optimal performance. We first start off with our platform trainer skis, such as our EZ skis and Connelly Fire crackers. These platform trainers are the easiest way to start off your child on the water. Our EZ ski is an inflatable trainer with a solid timber base that sits on top of the water it is attached with a rope and handle to the boat attached to the front of the ski and then a handle to the rider so they take as much or as little weight as they want. The Firecrackers are a little bit different as they are a solid timber ski so the kids will have to learn deep water starts but are aided by the massive surface area of the ski.

EZ Ski

These skis much like our trainer kids’ skis suit children up to 35kg. Moving on to our trainer skis, these are perfect for the little ones, they come with the double rope and handle that threads through the combo bar keeping the skis together and helping pull them out of the water. Also a rear connector to help keep the back of the skis together. These skis can only be used as a pair, but when we move up to our Junior skis we introduce a rear kicker for learning to either drop a ski or deep water starts. These skis also come with a combo bar at the front but lose the double rope and handle as well as the rear connectors, these are perfect for children 35-55kg .

KD Orbit

Moving on to our youth combo skis these are more suited to your teens that weigh 40-60kg are a great steppingstone from trainers to adults. These skis do not come with a combo bar however this can be added to most of the range to help keep the skis together. Finally, we have our adult skis, which suit everyone 55kg and up these skis are normally 67” but come in a variety of shapes. Which we will talk about later in the video.

Now, let's delve into the construction of combo waterskis. Most combos are made using Reaction Injection Molded (RIM) plastic except for our timber trainers. This material is not only durable but also lightweight, making it easier for riders to handle. The plastic construction also provides flexibility, making combo skis forgiving for beginners. And those bright-colored plastic fins? They're not just for looks – they help you spot your skis easily if they take an unexpected dip.

Now, let's talk about bindings. Combo skis usually come with adjustable one-size-fits-most front bindings. They're easy to get on and off, perfect for everyone on the boat. And for those aspiring slalom skiers, the rear toe rubber on one ski is your stepping stone to more advanced skiing. If you're on a budget, basic front combo ski boots with separate toe and heel rubber are a fantastic option for all riders. But hold on – there are newer, more comfortable binding options available. Modern combo ski boots made from foam and neoprene offer a snug fit with a lace-up design similar to slalom ski boots. They're a bit pricier, but the added comfort is definitely worth the investment.

Combo skis shapes have changed over the years with skis becoming wider over the years to offer more stability with more surface area, they provide easier starts, making them perfect for teaching newcomers. Some skis offer more of a concave base and added features like edge channels or metal fins to help teach more advanced combo skiers.  It's all about finding the shape that suits your style and skill level, but these are a must have for a great day out on the boat. Perfect for friends and family that have never waterskied before! So come in or jump on the online store to check out our massive range and get yourself out on the water this summer!
