Mens barefoot suits — full-body buoyancy and impact protection for barefoot waterskiing. From Wing, Williams and Sands. Pro, Freestyle and Jump cuts for tournament and freeride.
What a barefoot suit actually does. Barefoot waterskiing is the only towed water sport where the rider takes off and rides on bare feet, with no ski, board or buoyancy gear under the foot. You’re pulled at high speed and the water hits the body with serious force, especially on falls. A barefoot suit provides three things at once: buoyancy (foam in the chest helps you stay on the surface and aids barefoot starts), impact protection (the suit absorbs high-pressure water hit on falls), and structural support (the snug fit holds body shape while you’re loaded up on the line). A barefoot suit is not a wetsuit and not a standard life vest — it’s its own category. Some models are L50S-certified (so they double as a buoyancy aid), some aren’t. Always check the product page if you need the suit to also count as your life vest. Wing Freestyle suits in this collection are L50S-rated. Wing. Deepest barefoot-suit range in Australia. The Wing Pro Edition is the workhorse — buoyancy, full-body coverage and a snug athletic fit, in Black, Carbon and Illusion. The Wing Freestyle is built for freestyle barefoot riders who need more mobility (and is L50S-certified). The Wing Pro Jump Suit is built specifically for jump skiers — heavier protection in the impact zones for ramp hits. Williams. The Pro Edition in Lime and Orange is a tournament-favourite barefoot suit with strong buoyancy and a long-standing reputation. Williams has been making barefoot gear longer than most brands in this category. Sands. Sands Pro is the current model. Sands Titan is on clearance — solid mid-range option, fine for freeriders who don’t need tournament-spec. Fit. Barefoot suits are designed to be snug. Like a wetsuit, the snug fit holds the buoyancy foam against your body so it actually works on the water. If you’re between sizes, go smaller — a loose barefoot suit defeats the purpose. Undershorts. Most serious barefoot riders also wear an undershort beneath the suit for additional cushioning on the upper thighs (high-pressure water-entry zone). See our Barefoot Undershorts collection — Iron Full Wrap, Wing Full Wrap and Sands are the common picks. Care. Rinse in fresh water after every session. Hang to dry away from direct sun (UV damages neoprene). Don’t fold long-term — hang on a wide hanger so the suit holds its shape.
A wetsuit is built for warmth — it traps a thin layer of water against the body that the body heats up. A barefoot suit is built for protection and buoyancy on a sport where the rider gets hit hard by water at high speed. Barefoot suits have foam panels for floatation, heavier reinforcement in the impact zones, and a snug athletic cut that holds the suit in place during heavy falls. Warmth is a bonus, not the point. Don’t substitute a wetsuit if you’re barefooting.
Depends on the suit. Wing Freestyle suits in this collection are L50S-certified, so they meet the legal life vest requirement on their own. Other barefoot suits provide buoyancy but aren’t certified — you’d still need to wear a separate L50S life vest over the top for legal compliance on towed water sports. Always check the product page for the certification, or call us before assuming.
Snug. The foam panels need to sit firmly against your body to give you the buoyancy and impact protection they’re designed for. A loose barefoot suit will shift around in a fall and won’t protect the high-pressure water-entry zones. If you’re between sizes, go down a size rather than up. The first time you put it on, it should feel like an athletic compression layer — it loosens slightly once wet.
Strongly recommended. The upper thighs cop the most concentrated high-pressure water entry during a fall — that’s where undershorts add a layer of cushioning that makes the difference between getting back up and limping off the boat. Common picks are Iron Full Wrap, Wing Full Wrap and Sands. These are full-wrap designs that sit under the suit — not the same as standalone barefoot shorts.
