Kids slalom skis — complete ski packages with boots and RTP (rear toe plate), sized for younger riders. From Radar, HO and KD. Boys and girls cuts, beginner through tournament-spec.
Every ski here is a complete package — kids slalom ski, front boot and rear toe plate (RTP), ready to ride out of the box. Why junior-specific gear matters. Scaled lengths and softer flex for lighter rider weights and lower boat speeds. A small adult ski won’t ride for a kid the way a proper junior ski will — too long, too stiff, hard to edge through a turn. Junior shapes solve all of that. What’s in the range. KD Cobalt Boys (with Axcess boot) — entry-to-intermediate kids slalom ski. Durable construction, good first single ski for a kid moving up from combos. Radar TRA Boys (with Prime or TRA boot) — performance-leaning junior ski, popular in coaching programs. Two boot options for different fit preferences. Radar TRA Girls (with Prime or TRA boot) — same shape, girls cut. Same two boot options. HO Future Omni Girls (with Stance boot) — HO’s junior version of the popular Omni family. Forgiving but capable, suits girls progressing through intermediate. Radar Vapor TRA (with Vector Boa boot) — tournament-spec junior ski for kids running the slalom course. The pointiest-end junior option. Most kids don’t need this; it’s specific to coached training programs. Boys vs girls cuts. Radar TRA, HO Future Omni and KD Cobalt all have gender-specific cuts. The ski shapes are similar but boots are cut differently for foot geometry. Pick based on what fits the kid, not just what’s marked on the box. Sizing. By weight, not age. Each product page specifies a weight bracket and ski length. Kids slalom is especially weight-sensitive — too long and they can’t pull it through a turn, too short and it won’t support them at speed. Boat speed matters too: slower boats need longer skis. See the slalom ski size guide if you’re unsure. Tournament option. The Radar Vapor TRA is for kids who’ve outgrown intermediate skis and are working the slalom course. Most kids don’t need this. It’s for the small number of younger riders in coached training programs. Demo before you buy. Selected packages are part of the Try Before You Buy program — particularly useful for kids since the right size changes year to year as they grow. Hire fees vary by product; if you buy within 4 weeks of the hire period, the hire fee comes off the sale price.
By weight, not age. Each product page specifies a weight bracket and ski length. Match your kid’s weight to the chart — not their age, height or shoe size. Kids slalom is especially weight-sensitive: too long and they can’t pull the ski through a turn, too short and it won’t support them at speed. Boat speed matters too — slower boats need longer skis. If you’re between sizes on the chart, lean toward the longer side for stability.
Junior skis have softer flex (so they react at the lower speeds and lighter loads kids generate), shorter lengths proportional to body weight, and shape geometry tuned to kid-sized riders. A small adult slalom ski is too stiff and too long for most kids — they’ll struggle to edge it and struggle to keep it under them through turns. Junior-specific skis solve that.
Almost certainly not. The Vapor TRA is built for kids who’ve outgrown intermediate skis and are working the slalom course — typically in a coached training program. For most kids learning to ski single, the Radar TRA, HO Future Omni or KD Cobalt will give them a better ride for longer. Buy a tournament ski before they’re ready and they’ll find it harder, not easier. If your kid is actually in a coaching program and the coach is suggesting a Vapor, that’s a different conversation.
Yes — selected kids slalom skis are part of the Try Before You Buy program. Hire over a weekend (Friday to Monday) — hire fees vary by product. If you buy within 4 weeks of the hire period, the hire fee comes off the sale price. Particularly worth doing for kids since the right size changes year to year as they grow — a weekend on the water tells you fast whether this year’s ski is the one or whether they need to wait another season.
