Boardshorts and tech pants from Follow — water-side casual wear that handles wet boats, swim sessions and the post-ride debrief. Mens cuts in current and clearance colourways.
What you’re getting here. Boardshorts and tech pants from Follow — built for the water side of the day. Quick-dry synthetic fabric, no stitching where you’ll sit on it, deep pockets that don’t fill with water, and a fit cut for movement on and off the boat. Two cuts. Boardies (Follow Water Boardies, ATV 3 Boardie) are above-the-knee, classic boardshort length — get wet, dry fast, swim, ride a tube, drive the boat. Tech pants (Follow Tech Pant) are long-leg casual pants in the same quick-dry fabric — ideal as a cover-up over a wetsuit or rashie on the way to and from the boat ramp. Follow Tech Shorts sit between the two — knee-length, more tailored, work as casual shorts off the water as well. Currently a Follow-only range. Colourways across Black, Olive, Khaki, Stone, Alloy, Grey and Klein Blue (on clearance). Sizing. Follow shorts run slightly fitted in the waist — if you’re between sizes, go up. Tech Pants are cut for layering over a wetsuit, so they sit roomier in the leg. Care. Cold rinse after every session, especially after salt water. Cold machine wash on gentle. Hang dry — never tumble dry (the synthetic fabric and elastic degrade fast under heat). Don’t leave wet in the boat bag. On the water vs off the water. These work for both, but if you need a snug wetsuit-shorts layer for towed sports (water entry protection, sat under a vest, paddled under), look at our Rideshorts and Wetsuit Pants collections instead. Boardshorts here are loose-fit casual wear that get wet. New colourways drop with each Follow seasonal release.
Boardshorts are loose-fit, quick-dry casual shorts — for the boat, the swim, the post-ride deck time. Rideshorts (or neoprene shorts) are snug-fitting compression-style shorts worn under or instead of swimwear during towed water sports. Rideshorts keep swimwear in place during falls and add cushioning. Boardshorts don’t do either of those jobs. If you’re riding hard — slalom, wakeboard, kneeboard — you want rideshorts under your boardies, not boardies alone.
Yes — the boardies (Follow Water Boardies, ATV 3) are built to get wet and dry fast. The Tech Pants are quick-dry too but they’re a long-leg cut more suited to on-deck cover-up than actual swimming. Pick the boardies if you’re in and out of the water; pick the Tech Pants if you want a more casual layer over a wetsuit or rashie.
Slightly fitted in the waist — if you’re between sizes, go up. The leg cut is true to standard boardshort proportions. The Tech Pant runs roomier in the leg because it’s designed to pull on over a wetsuit. Check the size chart on each product page for exact waist measurements before ordering online.
Yes — cold machine wash on gentle. Hang dry. Don’t tumble dry — the synthetic fabric and the elastic waistband both degrade under heat, and you’ll notice the boardies losing their shape and the elastic dying within a season. Cold rinse after every session is the bigger win, especially after salt water. Don’t leave them wet in the boat bag overnight — mildew sets in fast.
