Your fin setup is the easiest way to change how a wakesurfer rides — more fin for drive and hold, less for a looser, skatier feel. This collection covers wakesurf fins, fin sets and cases plus stick-on traction, from Ronix, Hyperlite, Liquid Force, 3D Fins and Surfco Hawaii.
The fins are the cheapest, fastest way to change how a wakesurfer rides. More fin area — bigger fins, or more of them — gives drive, hold and a surfy feel that carves and holds a line. Less fin — smaller, or fewer — frees the tail up for a looser, skatier ride that spins and slides more easily. Swapping fins lets one board cover more than one style. Setups vary by board. A single centre fin is loose and skatey; a thruster (three) adds drive and control; twins sit in between, fast and loose. Many boards take a tool-less system like Ronix Fin-S so you can change fins on the water without tools, while others use a standard fin box. Check which system your board uses before buying — fins aren’t universal across boxes. Material changes the feel too. Plastic and fibreglass fins flex a little for a forgiving ride; carbon fins are stiffer and more responsive for riders chasing precise drive. A wax mat or stick-on traction kit keeps your feet planted without re-waxing every session — handy on a board you share or ride often — and a fin case keeps spare fins from rattling around the boat. Waterskiers World stocks Ronix, Hyperlite, Liquid Force, 3D Fins and Surfco Hawaii. Browse the range online or visit the Brisbane store, and tell us your board if you’re not sure which fin system it takes.
More fin — bigger fins or more of them — gives drive and hold for a surfy, carving ride. Less fin frees the tail for a looser, skatier feel that spins and slides more easily. Swapping fins is the easiest way to make one board ride two ways.
It depends on the board and the feel you want. A single centre fin is loose and skatey, a thruster (three fins) adds drive and control, and a twin sits in between. Start with what the board came with, then adjust from there.
No — fins aren’t universal. Boards use different boxes, from tool-less systems like Ronix Fin-S to standard fin boxes, and a fin has to match the box. Check your board’s system before buying, or tell us the board and we’ll point you to fins that fit.
A wax mat is stick-on traction that grips your feet without waxing the deck every session. It’s handy on a board you ride often or share, and it stays put in the heat where wax can melt off. Plenty of riders still prefer traditional wax — both work.
