The Captains Kit XL Boat Fender is a moulded fender with shock-absorbing EVA foam that dampens impact from docks, rocks, and other hazards during mooring. Its large footprint and low centre of gravity hold it upright in position even when it's not cinched tight.
The XL Fender uses a one-hand cinch with an auto-lock lacing system, so you can secure it in seconds. A solid-core bungee connection lets it flex and move with the water while keeping the boat steady and protected against shifting forces.
As a general guide, use at least three fenders on the side you're berthing, adding more for a longer boat — roughly one per few metres of hull plus one at each point the boat will touch the dock or another vessel. Position them where the hull is widest.
Match fender size to your boat's length and weight — larger, heavier boats need bigger fenders to absorb the load, while smaller boats suit compact fenders. Check the fender's dimensions against your boat, and step up a size if you moor in rough or exposed water.
Rinse fenders in fresh water after saltwater use to clear salt and grime, and check inflatable fenders hold air before each trip. Store them out of prolonged direct sun to protect the material; inflatable fenders can be deflated and packed away when not in use.
