A boat fender is a foam or inflatable buffer that hangs between your boat and a dock, pier, or another boat to stop the hull scuffing or knocking. It absorbs impact when you are moored or rafting up alongside.
Tie the fender to a cleat or rail at the right height so it sits between the hull and whatever it is protecting. An adjustable cleat or rope lets you set the drop to match the dock, and hang enough fenders to cover the contact points.
This fender uses closed-cell EVA foam, which is buoyant, UV-resistant, and shaped to contour against the hull. Closed-cell foam will not absorb water or go soft, so it keeps protecting the boat season after season.
Rinse the fender in fresh water to remove salt and grime, and wipe off scuff marks with mild soapy water. Check the rope and cleat for wear, and store the fender out of direct sun when it is not in use to extend its life.
