Follow life vests — the full Follow range, mens, womens, kids, youth and infant. Mostly L50S for towed water sports, with selected L50 options for PWC use. From Follow’s range of neoprene vest design.
Why Follow. Follow is a wake-focused vest brand that’s built a strong reputation for fit, neoprene quality and graphic design across the towed-water-sports market. The current range covers mens, womens, kids, youth and infant cuts, with most of the lineup rated L50S for smooth water and selected products rated L50 for PWC and open water use. L50 vs L50S — the critical distinction. They have identical buoyancy (50N). The difference is water-type approval, not buoyancy. L50 is approved for smooth, partially smooth and open water on a PWC. Required safety colour standard (high-vis bright colour). Common for jet ski use. L50S is approved for smooth water only — most lakes, rivers and dams. Any colour permitted. Common for waterskiing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing and tubing. Neither is “better” or “more buoyant” — pick based on where you ride. Cuts in the range. Mens — snug fit, full mobility for towed sports. Most are L50S; a few L50 options for jet ski riders. Womens — cut for typical womens body shape and proportions. Most are L50S. Womens cuts aren’t just smaller mens vests — the chest panel, shoulder line and waist taper are tuned for womens body shape. Kids, Youth and Junior — scaled-down cuts for age-appropriate body sizes. Sizing varies by product (typically by chest and weight). Kids must NEVER be fitted into adult vests — fit is critical for safety. Infant — smallest cut. Designed for the youngest passengers on the boat. Fit matters more than anything else. Should feel very snug when dry — wet neoprene moves around if you size too loose, and a loose vest can ride up over your head in a heavy fall. Fasten both the zip AND the belt. Watch our How To Fit videos before requesting an exchange — most “doesn’t fit” issues are fit-technique, not sizing. Construction. Most Follow vests use neoprene panels with foam inserts — comfortable on skin, flexible for paddling out and gripping the handle, durable across multiple seasons of use. Legal requirement. Life vests are a legal requirement for towed water sports in Australia (NSW, QLD and most other jurisdictions). Fines apply for non-compliance. Always wear a vest behind a tow boat. Care. Hand wash only with mild detergent. Never machine wash. Never use harsh chemicals or fuels. Store away from direct sun and heat. Neoprene pills if other neoprene items rest on it in storage.
Identical buoyancy (50N). Different water-type approval. L50 is approved for smooth, partially smooth and open water on a PWC — required safety colour standard (high-vis bright). L50S is approved for smooth water only (most lakes, rivers and dams) — any colour permitted. Neither is “better” or “more buoyant”. If you’re on a coastal jet ski or anywhere outside smooth water, you need L50. If you’re on a lake or river behind a tow, L50S is the right call and gives you the full Follow colour range.
Very snug when dry. Neoprene moves more when wet, so a vest that feels comfortably loose on land will ride up in the water — and a vest that rides up doesn’t do its job in a heavy fall. Both the zip AND the belt need to be fastened. If you’re between sizes, go down rather than up. Watch our How To Fit videos before requesting an exchange — most “doesn’t fit” returns turn out to be fit-technique rather than wrong size.
No. Kids must NEVER be fitted into adult vests. An adult vest is too big around a kid’s body, which means it rides up in the water — potentially over the head in a heavy fall — and doesn’t provide effective flotation. Kids need kid-sized vests. The Follow range covers infant, junior, kids and youth cuts — pick by your kid’s chest and weight (check the manufacturer chart on each product page).
Selected Follow vests are L50-rated, which is what you need for PWC use in open water. Filter by L50 (PFD 2) to find them. Most of the Follow range is L50S (smooth water only) — fine for jet ski use in lakes and rivers but not legal for coastal or open-water PWC riding. If jet ski is your primary use, also look at our Jetpilot Life Vests collection — Jetpilot’s L50 PWC range is the deepest single-brand option in Australia.
