Slalom ski boots and rear toe plates from HO, Radar, Connelly, Reflex and KD — open-toe, closed-toe and hardshell front boots, plus RTPs and replacement parts. Boots and bindings to match almost any modern slalom ski, from social cruising to the slalom course.
Most modern slalom skis share a universal front-binding hole pattern, so a new boot can usually be fitted to a ski that still has life in it. That’s the value upgrade we see most often — a tired binding replaced rather than the whole ski. Open-toe boots are the most common, and they’re what most social and intermediate slalom skiers ride. They take a range of foot sizes per shell, with a lace-up forefoot for control and a bungee around the ankle that releases the foot in a fall. Easy in, easy out, forgiving on a stack — the right choice for almost everyone who isn’t chasing tournament-level performance. Closed-toe boots wrap the whole foot for a more precise, locked-in fit and faster response from the ski. Sizing is exact, like a shoe, so each model fits a narrower range. They suit skiers who want sharper control through hard cuts and are comfortable with a less forgiving release. Hardshells are the next step up — a rigid plastic shell with a release plate that separates the entire boot from the ski in a fall. Stiffer than any laced boot, with the most direct response, and the safest release on hard wipeouts. They’re built for tournament and 3-event skiing, and aren’t beginner kit. The rear is its own choice. Most slalom skiers use a Rear Toe Plate (RTP) — a slip-on sandal you step into — rather than a full rear boot. Adjustable RTPs accommodate a range of foot sizes, which is handy when more than one person rides the same ski. Full rear boots give a locked-in feel for both feet, mainly used by advanced skiers and hardshell setups. Brands we stock: HO, Radar, Connelly, Reflex, KD and Wiley. Each lists its own size chart on the product page — go by your shoe size, not the ski size.
An open-toe boot with a bungee ankle lace. It’s forgiving in a fall, takes a range of foot sizes inside one shell so it’s easy to fit, and gives a relaxed feel suited to social skiing. Almost every brand we stock makes one — HO, Radar, Connelly and KD all have well-priced options.
An RTP — a slip-on rear toe plate — is what most slalom skiers use, beginner to advanced. It’s quick to get into, comfortable, and works well across skill levels. Full rear boots are mainly used with hardshell setups by tournament and 3-event riders, where a locked-in back foot helps with control.
Yes — that’s what open-toe boots are designed to do. The bungee around the ankle lets the foot release on hard falls rather than holding tight and stressing the ankle. Hardshell systems take it further by releasing the entire boot off the ski, which is the safest setup for high-speed wipeouts.
Both lock you in more than an open-toe, but they’re different setups. Closed-toe boots are laced and stiffer than open-toe — more control, still releases the foot in a fall. Hardshells are rigid plastic with a release plate that pops the whole boot off the ski. Closed-toe suits advanced social skiers; hardshells are built for tournament and 3-event.
