Tournament water ski equipment — everything tagged for 3-Event tournament use. Slalom skis and blanks, hardshell bindings, ropes and handles, jump and trick gear, fin gauges, covers, tool kits and tournament accessories.
What’s in this collection. Every product tagged “3 Event” — meaning gear specifically built for or used in 3-Event tournament water skiing (slalom, trick and jump). This is a cross-category filter, not a single product type. Use it as a one-stop browse for tournament-level gear across the disciplines we stock. What 3-Event means. Tournament water skiing has three events: slalom (the course with six buoys, run at progressive shorter line lengths and faster boat speeds), trick (two 20-second passes of as many different tricks as the skier can land), and jump (skis off a ramp at speed for maximum distance). All three require specific equipment that wouldn’t suit recreational riding. Categories represented in this collection. Slalom skis — tournament-grade construction tiers (Pro Build, Graphite, Lithium, Heritage) across Radar, HO, Connelly, KD. Sold as packages with matched boots, or as blanks (bare skis) for skiers fitting their own bindings. Slalom boots — Radar, HO, Connelly, KD and Reflex. Open-toe Boa and lace, closed-toe, and Reflex hardshell with mechanical release. Rear toe plates — adjustable, fixed, hybrid, womens-cut. Matched to front boot brands. Trick skis and boots — purpose-built short trick skis for spins, flips and toe-passes. Jump skis — long, heavier skis built for ramp launches and distance. Tournament ropes and handles — slalom (Spectra and Poly low-stretch), trick (handle with toe-hold), jump (narrower handle, low-stretch). Fin gauges and tools — for measuring and adjusting fin depth, position and angle. Covers — protective covers for tournament skis (more padding than recreational covers, often with extra fin protection). Tool kits and accessories — binding slime, wax, replacement parts. Who this collection is for. Tournament skiers, course skiers running short line, jumpers, trick skiers, and advanced recreational skiers shopping for tournament-grade gear. Not for beginners or intermediate riders — the equipment here is purpose-built for high-speed course work and not forgiving for skill building. If you’re learning, see the Beginner Slalom Skis collection. 3-Event boat speeds and rope lengths. Slalom: men 36 mph and 58 km/h, women 34 mph and 55 km/h, with progressive line shortening (15 off, 22 off, 28 off, 32 off, 35 off, 38 off, 41 off and beyond). Trick: 20-30 km/h. Jump: men 57 km/h, women 54 km/h. Setup matters more than gear. Tournament gear with a misconfigured fin, wrong boot angle or wrong rope length doesn’t ski well. Factory settings are the right starting point; tune from there once you know what each adjustment changes. Don’t go below 6° foil — risk of tail blowout. The Resource Centre on our website has model-specific factory fin settings.
Tournament water skiing has three events — slalom, trick and jump. Slalom is the course with six buoys, run at progressively shorter line lengths and faster boat speeds. Trick is two 20-second passes of as many different tricks as the skier can land (hand-pass and toe-pass). Jump is launching off a ramp at speed for maximum distance. Competitors score across all three to determine an overall winner. The “3-Event” tag on our gear marks equipment built for or used in tournament-level competition.
Generally no. Tournament gear is purpose-built for high-speed course work, short rope lengths, and aggressive course technique. The shapes are narrow and demanding, the boots are stiff, the response is sharp. Recreational skiers ride more forgiving wider shapes at lower boat speeds — tournament gear at recreational speeds rides slow and unforgiving. Advanced recreational skiers progressing into the course are the bridge audience; absolute beginners and intermediates should look at the Beginner Slalom Skis collection or brand-specific intermediate packages.
Slalom: men ski at 36 mph (58 km/h), women at 34 mph (55 km/h). The rope starts at 75 feet (the full length) and progressively shortens — 15 off, 22 off, 28 off, 32 off, 35 off, 38 off, 41 off and beyond. Trick runs at 20-30 km/h. Jump runs at 57 km/h for men and 54 km/h for women, off a ramp height appropriate to the skier’s division. Recreational skiers can use the same boat speeds for slalom and jump, but the rope length and course execution are what separate tournament from recreational riding.
Pick your event. Slalom skiers building into the course need a tournament slalom ski and a binding setup matched to their skill (RTP for safety, hardshell with release for advanced course work). Trickers need a trick ski, low-stretch trick rope and a toe-hold handle. Jumpers need a jump ski, jump rope and jump-specific safety gear. Most skiers start with one event and add gear as they go.
