A cable wakeboard is built for a different job than a boat board. At the cable park you're riding obstacles — rails, kickers, sliders and boxes — so a cable board has a tougher, more impact-resistant base and a more flexible core that can take repeated hits and presses without damage. That's the key difference, and it's why the two aren't interchangeable. The warning that matters: a boat board is not built for the cable park. Riding a boat board over obstacles will likely cause impact damage, and impact damage isn't covered under manufacturer's warranty. Some boards are made as boat/cable crossovers, built tough enough for both, and we tag those clearly — but a dedicated boat board should stay behind the boat. If you ride both, a crossover board or a board for each setup is the way to go. The range spans beginner to advanced. Beginner cable boards are more forgiving, with a continuous rocker for easy, predictable riding; advanced boards are built for loading hard off obstacles and the kicker. Complete packages pair a board with cable-appropriate boots, and there are womens and kids cable boards too. A helmet is essential at the cable park — obstacles, other riders and the moving cable all make head protection a sensible call, and most parks require one, which is why wake helmets sit in this collection alongside the boards. We stock Follow, Triple 8 and Liquid Force. Cable boards take a beating by design, but look after the base and edges, rinse after salt or dirty water, and check your boot screws before each session. Browse the full cable range online or visit the Brisbane store — the team rides park and can match a board to your level.
A cable board has a tougher, more impact-resistant base and a more flexible core, built to take hits on rails, kickers and sliders at the cable park. A boat board is built for riding the boat’s wake and isn’t made for obstacle impacts. Some boards are boat/cable crossovers built for both — we tag those clearly.
Crossover (boat/cable) boards are made for both and ride fine behind a boat. A dedicated cable board will work behind a boat but is built around park durability rather than boat-wake pop, so a crossover or boat-specific board suits boat riding better. Check the board’s tags or ask us.
Boat boards aren’t built for obstacle impacts — hitting a rail or kicker will likely cause impact damage, and impact damage isn’t covered under manufacturer’s warranty. Cable boards have tougher bases and more flex for exactly that. If you ride both, look at a boat/cable crossover or keep a board for each.
Yes — a helmet is strongly recommended at the cable park. Obstacles, the moving cable and other riders all make head protection sensible, and most parks require one. We stock wake-specific helmets from Follow, Triple 8 and Liquid Force in this collection.
