Why Connelly. Connelly has been making slalom skis for over 60 years — one of the foundational brands in the sport. The current lineup covers the full skill spread, with a particular reputation for forgiving beginner skis and well-engineered intermediate carving shapes. Sold as complete ski packages. Connelly skis in this collection are sold as the ski PLUS the matched boot system PLUS a rear toe plate (RTP) for the back foot. You don’t source boots separately — the package is the ride. Multiple boot tiers across the range, paired to the ski tier. Skill levels in the range. Beginner and wide-body shapes — wide tip and tail for huge surface area, easy starts, more lift. Some include Connelly’s tracking system — a forward centre spine that gives extra stability during the start (and lifts out of the water once the ski is moving at normal speed). For first-timers, returning skiers, heavier riders, and slower boat speeds. The most forgiving end of the range. Social carving shapes — built around the VTEC base which reduces drag during the carve and makes effortless turns. For riders who want relaxed long-river sessions, minimum fatigue, and the kind of carving feel that doesn’t demand tournament-level technique. Intermediate and hybrid shapes — wider tip and narrower tail. Versatile across speeds and riders. Connelly’s hybrid range includes a 3-in-1 tail system on one model — three interchangeable tails (deep and aggressive, fast, hybrid) that let you change how the ski rides without changing the ski. Advanced and tournament 3-Event shapes — narrow tail, sharper rails, designed for course work at 32-36 mph. Womens and kids. Currently the in-stock Connelly slalom range is mens-only. Connelly does make womens-specific cuts and kids progression skis — call us if you want to order in. Boot pairings. Boot tier matches the ski. Beginner skis come with softer open-toe boots that lace easily and release cleanly in falls. Intermediate and advanced skis step up to boots with more lateral support and dual lacing. The rear is a rear toe plate (RTP) for easy release on falls. Sizing. By rider weight AND boat speed — use the manufacturer chart on each product page. As a general rule, beginners and returning skiers should go one size longer than the chart suggests. More ski equals more lift equals easier start equals more forgiving. Fin and foil. Skis arrive with factory fin and foil settings. Leave them alone until you genuinely understand what each adjustment does. Factory foil setting is typically 7° down angle.
