A fin wing is a small foil mounted to the rear of your slalom ski fin to control lift, edge hold, and release. Adjusting the wing angle changes how the ski responds at the buoy — more angle adds hold and lift, less angle allows a freer release through the turn.
A drop-through fin with wing set is a complete replacement fin and wing combination for slalom skis that use a drop-through fin box. It includes both the fin body and the wing foil as a matched, ready-to-install setup.
Aluminium fins and wings hold their geometry under load without flexing, delivering consistent ski behaviour from start to finish of a set. Plastic components can deflect under pressure, which introduces variability into how the ski feels — particularly noticeable at shorter rope lengths and higher speeds.
No — where a fin or wing is offered in different colours, the construction and performance are identical and the difference is purely cosmetic. Choose whichever colour suits your ski and preference.
Use a wing gauge or digital calipers to measure and reproduce your wing angle (commonly set between about 7 and 9.5 degrees). Gauges let you record a working setup and return to it precisely across sessions. Radar and Ski-Doc wing gauge sets are available for this.
