The Tube Repair Kit is used to repair punctures, small tears, and seam leaks in PVC towable ski tubes and inflatable water toys. It allows riders to fix minor damage on the water or at home rather than replacing the entire tube.
A typical tube repair kit includes PVC patch material and adhesive (or a contact cement). Some kits also include a small piece of sandpaper for surface preparation. Check the specific contents listed on the product page for exact inclusions.
Deflate the tube fully and dry the damaged area. Lightly roughen the surface with sandpaper, apply the adhesive to both the patch and the tube surface, allow to tack briefly, then press the patch firmly in place. Allow to cure fully before re-inflating.
Tube repair kits are best suited to small punctures and minor tears. Large tears, major seam separations, or damage near valves may not hold permanently with a patch kit. In those cases, tube replacement is usually the safer and more cost-effective solution.
A properly applied patch on a clean, dry surface can last for the life of the tube. The key is thorough surface preparation and allowing full cure time before use. Rushing the cure or applying the patch to a wet surface will result in a weak bond.
