A Drop Thru Fin is a replacement slalom ski fin that slots through the fin box and is secured from below. It provides the tracking and turning stability needed for slalom water skiing, particularly on older ski models with a drop-through style fin box.
Drop Thru Fins suit slalom skis with a traditional drop-through fin box design. This fin style is commonly found on older and mid-range slalom skis. If you are unsure whether your ski uses this fin type, contact Waterskiers World with your ski make and model.
A larger fin provides more tracking stability and is generally easier to control, making it better for beginners. A smaller fin allows quicker edge-to-edge transitions favoured by advanced slalom skiers. The standard fin that ships with your ski is tuned for general use.
Insert the fin through the fin box slot from the top of the ski, slide it to your desired position, and secure with the locking screw from beneath. Ensure it is tightened firmly to prevent movement during a run, as a loose fin significantly affects ski tracking.
Rinse the fin in fresh water after saltwater use and check the locking screw for corrosion. Inspect the fin for chips or cracks that could affect performance. Store the ski with the fin removed if possible to prevent damage during transport.
