Fly High Air Release Plug

The Fly High Air Release Plug is a direct replacement for the standard ballast plug on Fly High wakeboard ballast bags, with the added ability to easily vent excess air by simply loosening the fitting slightly. No need to fully remove the fitting or worry about spilling water — just loosen to vent, then tighten back down.

Particularly useful when manually filling and draining ballast bags with a Tsunami pump, ensuring you get the maximum amount of water in each bag every time.

The Fly High Air Release Plug is used to purge trapped air from ballast bags during filling. Air pockets inside a ballast bag prevent it from reaching full capacity — the air release plug allows the air to escape as water fills the bag for maximum ballast.
The air release plug is installed at the highest point of the ballast bag. As the bag fills with water from below, the air that was inside the bag has nowhere to go and exits through the plug opening. Once water reaches the plug, the bag is full and the plug is closed.
Most Fly High ballast bags with a sealed top design include or support an air release plug to allow full filling. Check your specific bag model's specifications to confirm whether it uses an air release plug or relies on another venting method.
If the air release plug is closed during filling, trapped air compresses and the bag cannot reach full capacity. The bag will feel firm but may only be partially full. Always open the air release plug before filling and close it once water begins to exit.
Rinse the plug with fresh water after each session and inspect the seal for wear. Replace the plug if the seal is degraded or the plug no longer holds watertight when closed, as leaks here can cause the bag to drain below its intended fill level during use.
