How to fit your vest
The Jetpilot Retro is certified to Australian Standards Level 50S (PFD 3), which covers towed watersports and PWC riding in smooth water zones. For partially smooth waters, PWC riders need a high-visibility Level 50 vest instead.
The Retro uses a three-buckle side-entry closure, so you're in and out fast without fighting a wet front zip. The shell is Australian-standards nylon over Freelite buoyancy foam, with a lanyard safety clip and a heat-transfer race number panel.
The Jetpilot Retro comes in XS, S/M, L/XL and 2XL, in the single Retro Yellow colourway — a high-visibility throwback to classic Jetpilot design.
L50 and L50S carry the same buoyancy. The difference is colour: an L50 must be high-visibility, which is why PWC riders often wear them, while an L50S comes in any colour and is the usual pick for towed watersports. Which one is approved where depends on your state — see our state-by-state life vest guide.
Life vests are sized by chest measurement and weight (and by age for children). Match your measurements to the brand's size chart and do it up fully — a correctly sized vest is snug and won't ride up over your face when you lift at the shoulders. Check every buckle and strap holds firm.
Rinse the vest in fresh water after each use and dry it in the shade, out of direct sunlight. Check the buckles, straps, stitching, and flotation before each outing, and replace the vest if any part is damaged or the flotation is compromised.
