Yes — the KD Ollie is shaped for easy riding and easy ollie power, making it a strong first wakeskate. Its continuous rocker gives consistent pop every attempt and the concave EVA traction pad keeps you comfortable, so it edges like a high-end skate while staying beginner-friendly. Available in 43".
The KD Ollie's continuous rocker gives a smooth, predictable glide and reliable pop on every attempt, which helps when you're learning ollies and edging. Built from 14-ply maple with a spooned concave EVA pad, it's strong and comfortable underfoot for repeated sessions.
A wakeskate is like a wakeboard but without bindings — your feet grip the board via a foam or grip-tape deck. This allows you to kick the board off during tricks and ride with a skateboarding-style feel. Wakeskates are generally smaller and lighter than wakeboards.
Wakeskates are ridden barefoot or in water shoes with a grippy rubber sole. Purpose-built wakeskate shoes provide better board feel and grip than regular sneakers, which absorb water and become heavy. Wakeskate-specific shoes are available from brands like Ronix and Hyperlite.
Wakeskating has a steeper learning curve than wakeboarding because there are no bindings to secure your feet. It is recommended for riders who are already comfortable on a wakeboard and want to progress to a more challenging, skateboarding-influenced style of riding.
A standard wakeboard rope and handle works for wakeskating. Most wakeskaters prefer a slightly shorter rope length than wakeboarding — around 55–60 feet — to keep the wake cleaner for tricks. Waterskiers World stocks a full range of wakeboard ropes suitable for wakeskating.
