A bungee dock tie has built-in elastic that absorbs the shock of wake, wash, and tide, cushioning the boat or PWC against the dock instead of jerking against a fixed line. This reduces strain on cleats and fittings and keeps the craft sitting more comfortably at the tie-up.
Bungee dock ties are designed for short-term tie-ups and cushioning at the dock or when rafting up. For overnight or unattended mooring, use proper mooring lines rated for the load and conditions, with the bungee tie as a shock-absorbing addition rather than the sole line.
Loop or clip one end to your craft's bow or stern tie point and the other to the dock cleat or piling, leaving enough length for the bungee to stretch and absorb movement. Make sure both ends are secure before stepping away.
For a PWC, two ties — one at the bow and one at the stern — give balanced, secure tie-up. Larger boats or rafting several craft together need one tie per contact point. Match the number to how the craft sits against the dock or other vessels.
Rinse the dock tie in fresh water after saltwater use and store it out of direct sunlight, which degrades bungee and webbing over time. Check the elastic, webbing, and clips for wear before each use and replace the tie if any part is damaged.
