Yes, the Ronix South Shore Skimmer is aimed at riders learning to lock in tricks and carve with confidence. A stable three-fin setup adds control while you find your feet, and adjustable foot straps let you dial your stance, so it suits beginner to intermediate skim riders.
The Ronix South Shore Skimmer comes in 53, 58 and 62 inches. Lighter riders suit the 53, mid-weight riders the 58, and heavier riders the 62 for extra surface area and stability. Our wakesurf size guide can match the length to your weight.
The Ronix South Shore Skimmer's key features are adjustable foot straps and a switchable fin setup, running three fins for stability or a single fin as your technique sharpens. It shares a foam core with Ronix's Flyweight boards, with a machined EVA pad and Blueprint fibreglass fins.
The Ronix South Shore Skimmer is a skim style board fitted with foot straps. It favours loose spins, slides and 360s over long carving turns, and the straps plus switchable fins make it a supportive platform for riders building skim skills.
Surf-style boards have more volume, thicker rails and larger fins, giving strong drive down the line and a surfy, wave-riding feel that suits most riders. Skim-style boards are thinner and flatter with smaller or fewer fins, so they sit looser and skatey on the wave, making spins, shuvits and surface tricks easier but taking more balance. Many riders start on a surf style and move toward skim as they progress.
Wakesurfer size is guided mainly by rider weight and skill: heavier riders and beginners suit a longer board with more volume for easier planing and stability, while lighter or more advanced riders can drop to a shorter, looser board. Board style matters too, as skim boards are usually ridden shorter than surf boards. Check the size guide or ask our team for a recommendation.
