Jetpilot life vests — the deepest single-brand vest range we stock. Mens, womens, kids, youth, infant, girls and boys. L50 for PWC and open water, L50S for smooth water. Sub-ranges across RX, Flight, Venture, Vault, Cause and more.
Why Jetpilot. Jetpilot is the dominant PWC-focused vest brand in the Australian market and has expanded heavily into towed water sports. The range is deeper than any other single brand we stock — with sub-ranges for different use cases (RX for aggressive PWC riding, Flight for towed sports, Venture for casual recreational, Vault for high-end PWC, Cause for entry-level and family). L50 vs L50S — the critical distinction. They have identical buoyancy (50N). The difference is water-type approval, not buoyancy. L50 is approved for smooth, partially smooth and open water on a PWC. Required safety colour standard (high-vis bright colour). Jetpilot’s L50 range is particularly deep — most of their PWC-focused vests are L50. L50S is approved for smooth water only — most lakes, rivers and dams. Any colour permitted. Common for waterskiing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing and tubing. Neither is “better” or “more buoyant” — pick based on where you ride. PWC features. Jetpilot’s PWC vests typically have shorter body length for seated wear, side pockets, kill-switch lanyard rings, impact panels on some models, and hydration pouches on the higher-spec range. The Vault and RX sub-ranges include features specifically for performance PWC riding. Cuts in the range. Mens — full mobility for both PWC and towed sports. The widest selection of any cut in the range. Womens (Ladies) — cut for typical womens body shape. Same L50 vs L50S decision applies. Kids, Youth, Boys, Girls — age-appropriate cuts. Sizing varies by product. Kids must NEVER be fitted into adult vests. Infant — smallest cut. Some have additional head support. Sub-range guide. Vault — high-end PWC-focused with Hyperflex neoprene and impact panels. RX — aggressive PWC racing and performance riding. Flight — towed sports and PWC crossover. Venture — casual recreational and family. Cause — entry-level mens, womens, kids and youth. Fit matters more than anything else. Should feel very snug when dry — wet neoprene moves around if you size too loose. Fasten both the zip AND the belt. Watch our How To Fit videos before requesting an exchange. Legal requirement. Life vests are a legal requirement for both towed water sports AND for PWC riding in Australia. Fines apply for non-compliance. Care. Hand wash only with mild detergent. Never machine wash. Store away from direct sun and heat.
Identical buoyancy (50N), different water-type approval. L50 is approved for smooth, partially smooth and open water on a PWC — required safety colour standard (high-vis bright). L50S is approved for smooth water only — any colour permitted. For jet ski use in coastal or open water, you need L50 — it’s a legal requirement. For jet ski use in smooth water (lakes, rivers, dams), L50S is fine. If you’re unsure or ride in mixed conditions, get an L50. Most of Jetpilot’s PWC-focused range is L50.
Each sub-range targets a different use case. Vault is the high-end PWC range with Hyperflex neoprene and impact panels for performance riding. RX is aggressive PWC racing focus. Flight is the towed-sports and PWC crossover range. Venture is casual recreational and family use. Cause is the entry-level range covering mens, womens, kids and youth at accessible price points. All sub-ranges meet AS/NZS standards — the difference is in construction, features and price point, not safety rating.
Very snug when dry. Neoprene moves more when wet, so a vest that feels comfortably loose on land will ride up in the water — and a vest that rides up doesn’t do its job in a heavy fall. Both the zip AND the belt need to be fastened. If you’re between sizes, go down rather than up. Watch our How To Fit videos before requesting an exchange — most “doesn’t fit” returns turn out to be fit-technique rather than wrong size.
No. Kids must NEVER be fitted into adult vests. An adult vest is too big around a kid’s body, which means it rides up in the water — potentially over the head in a heavy fall — and doesn’t provide effective flotation. Kids need kid-sized vests. The Jetpilot range covers infant, kids, youth, girls and boys cuts — pick by your kid’s chest and weight (check the manufacturer chart on each product page).
