The Hyperlite Gromcast is a forgiving surf-style board for young riders. Its wide, stable outline favours predictable carving and easy turns over aggressive skim-style spins, giving groms a steady, playful feel as they learn to ride and link manoeuvres behind the boat.
Surf-style boards have more volume, thicker rails and larger fins, giving strong drive down the line and a surfy, wave-riding feel that suits most riders. Skim-style boards are thinner and flatter with smaller or fewer fins, so they sit looser and skatey on the wave, making spins, shuvits and surface tricks easier but taking more balance. Many riders start on a surf style and move toward skim as they progress.
Wakesurfer size is guided mainly by rider weight and skill: heavier riders and beginners suit a longer board with more volume for easier planing and stability, while lighter or more advanced riders can drop to a shorter, looser board.
