The Hyperlite Shim comes in two sizes, 4'7" and 5'3". Lighter riders wanting a quick, agile board can choose the 4'7", while heavier riders or those after more float and stability should size up to the 5'3". Our wakesurf size guide can help you match size to weight.
The Hyperlite Shim uses DuraShell construction over an EPS core, pairing a lively EPS feel with durability. A single concave base with vented tail channels drives speed, while a diamond tail and machined EVA traction give a responsive, agile platform for turns and tricks.
The Hyperlite Shim is a hybrid wakesurfer. Its fast rocker and compact outline lend the loose, trick-friendly feel of a skim board, while the single concave base and tail channels add surf-style drive, so it carves down the line and still spins and airs with ease.
Surf-style boards have more volume, thicker rails and larger fins, giving strong drive down the line and a surfy, wave-riding feel that suits most riders. Skim-style boards are thinner and flatter with smaller or fewer fins, so they sit looser and skatey on the wave, making spins, shuvits and surface tricks easier but taking more balance. Many riders start on a surf style and move toward skim as they progress.
Wakesurfer size is guided mainly by rider weight and skill: heavier riders and beginners suit a longer board with more volume for easier planing and stability, while lighter or more advanced riders can drop to a shorter, looser board.
