The Hyperlite Shim comes in four sizes: 3'9", 4'4", 4'7" and 5'3". Lighter or younger riders can size down for a quick, agile board, while heavier riders after more float and stability should size up. Our wakesurf size guide can help you match length to your weight.
The Hyperlite Shim uses DuraShell construction with a centre concave that keeps you connected to the wave face, plus tail channels for drive. Added volume sits the board higher in the water for an easier ride, and a tool-free drop-in centre fin lets you adjust the feel on the fly.
The Hyperlite Shim is a hybrid wakesurfer. Its responsive shape and drop-in fin give loose, trick-friendly handling like a skim board, while the centre concave and tail channels add surf-style drive and hold, so it carves down the line and still spins and airs with ease.
Surf-style boards have more volume, thicker rails and larger fins, giving strong drive down the line and a surfy, wave-riding feel that suits most riders. Skim-style boards are thinner and flatter with smaller or fewer fins, so they sit looser and skatey on the wave, making spins, shuvits and surface tricks easier but taking more balance. Many riders start on a surf style and move toward skim as they progress.
Wakesurfer size is guided mainly by rider weight and skill: heavier riders and beginners suit a longer board with more volume for easier planing and stability, while lighter or more advanced riders can drop to a shorter, looser board.
