Choosing an Armstrong Foil Kit or Components

Wake foiling means riding a hydrofoil off the boat's wake — once you're up, the board lifts clear of the water and you glide on the foil alone, silent and almost dragless. A foil setup has four parts: a mast that drops from the board down into the water, a fuselage that bolts to the base of the mast, a front wing that generates the lift, and a smaller rear wing that stabilises it. Larger, lower-aspect wings lift early at low speed and are the most stable — the right call for learning. Higher-aspect wings (the HA and MA shapes) are more efficient and faster but ask more of the rider. Masts come in alloy and carbon: alloy is tougher and better value, carbon is lighter and stiffer for a more direct feel. Board size follows rider weight and skill — bigger boards are easier to get up on. Foils are mostly carbon, light and rigid but easy to chip on hard objects, so keep the edges protected and cover them in transport. The wings and mast are sharp — take real care around other people in the water, and never jump in near a foil. Lubricate the bolts against corrosion and check every fastener before each session.
